Medicine after death

MEDICINE AFTER DEATH

Few days ago an old man in his late seventies who  lived on my street died. He had three teenage daughters .Life was tough with him to the extent that his wife left him and so he was saddled with the responsibility of raising these children alone. What baffled me the most was that this man lived in penury but on the day he was buried there was a massive crowd of people gathered at his compound while some where crying the others were dancing to the live band. A big cow was killed and there was enough to eat and drink on his funeral day. Where did all these money come from? who are these people? If he had all these friends how is it possible that he is always lonely muttering words to himself?.

I wish I told him how much I admired the way he took care of his girls, I wish I told him he was a good father , I wish I just stopped him one morning to say hi. I felt a word of encouragement or affirmation from me would have kept him longer, now everyone is singing his praises as they sign his condolence register. I am as guilty as these hypocrites making merry at his funeral.
Appreciation is one of deepest cravings of humans, when you appreciate someone the person receives more positive energy to stay strong. Life is too short to be stingy  with compliments, feel free to tell that old man, you like his cheerful nature or tell that teenage girl you like her beautiful smile. The authenticity of life is celebrating the living.
