THE WOMAN IN A CHANGING WORLD

Over the years, the role of a man is clear, these roles and characters which are identified with men include virtues like strength , rationality, intelligence, to mention but a few. Making it   very clear that a man is superior. On the other hand the woman has struggled to understand her true identity, this sways the consciousness of the woman as she seems rather confused about her inner identity, unlike men that positive traits are  ascribed to, negative traits like docility, weakness, emotional  are generally used to describe women.

     All these tension which is consequent on the complexity of the argument   raises some fundamental questions; how valid are the preexisting conceptions ? is their  a possibility that they are only dogmas that has  been accepted because they were not challenged? is it really the case that women are everything but negative?

  There has been an argument as to the root cause of ills in the society. Great men have added their voice to this debate.  According to Karl Max who frowned at  the capitalist system of government , the root cause can be traced to exploitation and its resultant tension of the  class struggle between the rich  and poor, for Thomas Hobbes, it was as a result of political organization and mans need for government.  However interestingly to John Stuart Mill , who stated clearly in his book ,’’ The legal Subjection of Women’’ that the origin must be traced to the discrimination between the sexes. This to him must be tackled, in orderwords until the worth and value of womanhood is not appreciated, problems will continue to arise.  

  

As a result of the above, women have taken it upon themselves to prove their substance, that their roles did not end in the kitchen, that they have a working thinking faculty as men do. This struggle for women emancipation has made some feminists to champion some  opinions that others consider extreme, for instance the proponents of the pro choice that a woman is free to do whatever she likes even to procure an abortion.
Women are in dilemma of being what the society wants them to be as well as to be themselves. The society expects her to be calm but active,gentle but tough,rational but emotional . How exactly can she strike a balance as well as retain her subtlenes and uniqueness?TD  Jakes who is optimistic writes in his book, ‘’The lady her lover  and her lord’’  ‘’I tell you now that you are going to see the emergence of women who are celebrating their femininity. They will have success and the respect of executives and still enjoy motherhood and family. The woman’s world has widened,women can go further to achieve more and still be feminine……” Men and women are designed to work together, the mistake of the past is man’s oppression the mistake of the future is the spirit whereby the woman initiates the masculine strength and humanity will loose the creative edge of her perspectives.

Conclusively I think women should be comfortable in their femininity, she ought not be scared of her fragility,because within her lies great inner strength. So ladies trade your smiles generously  and be the best you can.
